Weight Watchers - Week #1

Well, we had our first "official" Weight Watchers at Work meeting today. I weighed in at 150.2 - this was at 11 am. My wake up weight this morning was 149.0....on the dot - so cool. I know, it's probably not a good thing to weigh myself every morning and every night. It's probably terribly unhealthy to write down both weights on the calendar every day too. I can't help it though. It seems like I HAVE to do the morning and night time weigh ins now. Maybe this is my way of keeping myself accountable for my weight. Anyway, it's worked so far - been doing the twice daily weigh ins for about 5 months now. I haven't started any other nasty habits that you see on Intervention, so I guess I'm good.

Today's Menu -

Slim Jim for breakfast (a little one, like .28 grams)
Salad for lunch - it was WAY yummy, grapes, olives, tomatoes, bleu cheese
Pork Chops w/ Mustard Creme Sauce and White Beans w/ Bacon - this was a WW recipe. Total per meal (keeping the servings properly) was 6 points.

Tomorrow's another day - still hoping for 149 / 148 would be cool.

149.2 - Let's Party!!!

Alright!!!!! Finally got to 149.2 this morning. I was really excited. It will be nice to wake up two mornings in a row under 150! My eating today was pretty good, guess seeing the 4 instead of the 5 was a bit encouraging. Since we woke up a little later, I didn't have breakfast, but I had a chicken wrap for lunch, about 6 points. Supper was excellent - lamb (about 3 pts) with cous cous (another 3 pts) and corn on the cob (1 pt.). I've had a few cups of coffee today too - about three cups with sugar of course (about 3 more pts.). The disadvantage of losing weight (if you can call it a disadvantage) is for every ten pounds, you lose a WW point. Guess I need to really start paying attention to the points I'm eating and drinking so I can get to and maintain my goal weight of 140.

Anywho, I'm really stoked about getting into the 140's...it has seemed like a long time coming, but when I stop to think about how long it actually took me to get to 180 lbs, the weight is coming off a lot faster than it initially came on!

Here's to the 140's - may they be long lasting!!

Not Giving Up

It's been a few days since my last post. Most of that can be chalked up to frustration. I just knew I was going to be in the 140's this week and it hasn't happened. I've been trying to keep a positive attitude about it, but too much positivity can be a pain in the arse. Oh well...at least I'm not gaining, right???? I'm hanging in there, waiting for our regular WW meetings to start up next week. That will help, I'm sure.

Back to WW Meetings

Ahhh...it's Monday. Today's menu - beef jerky for breakfast (again), beef jerky for a snack, and linguine with clam sauce for lunch; no dinner tonight (I did sneak a Coke). Thank goodness Weight Watchers meetings are starting up again tomorrow. Me and the chunky bunch will be heading over. I think that now we are all over the holidays, things can finally start moving in the right direction -DOWN!!

Wake up Weight: 150.6

Turkey Burgers ROCK!

Today was pretty good. Sundays generally are since they are usually busy. Seems boredom breeds hunger for me. My food intake for the day was pretty low. I did not eat a "real" breakfast, but I did have some beef jerky on the way to church. Had some fruit after church, and had a late lunch / early dinner of the best burger I've ever sank my pearly whites in to....believe it or not, it was a turkey burger! Yea, I know...turkey, so soon after the holidays - but I'm telling you, this was fabulous!! The recipe comes from Rachael Ray -- no, I don't think she is counting points, but hey, it's turkey! I included the recipe below, just in case you might be interested in trying it. I used nutiriondata.com to get a good estimate of the points value for one of these burgers -- ouch 13 pts!!! Funny, my husband was thinking this would be an "okay" meal for me because it was turkey - I thought he was probably right. I can't wait to tell him how many points this burger was! Thank goodness this was late lunch / early dinner...I've eaten 1/2 clementine since then. Doubtful that I'll eat any more tonight.

For 4 servings:
1 package (1.2 lbs) ground turkey breast
2 rounded tablespoons prepared horseradish
1/3 pound sharp white cheddar cheese, diced or crumbled into 1/4 inch pieces
2 scallions, finely chopped
1 rounded palmful grill seasoning, such as McCormick's Montreal Steak Seasoning
EVOO
Spicy brown mustard
4 poppy seed kaiser rolls, split
1 tub or can of good quality whole berry cranberry sauce
Romaine lettuce leaves
Gourmet potato chips

Heat a non-stick skillet over medium high heat.In a medium bowl, mix together the meat, horseradish, Cheddar pieces, scallions, and grill seasoning. Form 4 patties and drizzle them with EVOO. Cook the burgers for 5 to 6 minutes on each side. Spread mustard on the bun bottoms and cranberry sauce on the bun tops. Place the burgers on the bun bottoms, top with romaine leaves, and set the bun tops in place. Serve fancy chips alongside.

So, today's stats:

Wake Up Weight: 150.0
Total Points: ~ 20

Keeping my fingers crossed for 149.8 tomorrow...

First Day Posting...

This is my first go as a "blogger"...holy cow, that just sounds funny to me. Anyway, I have started this as another way to make myself accountable for many things, mainly what I eat. I began going to Weight Watchers in June 2008. At the time, my diet consisted of a Vanilla Coke for breakfast, Coke and a burger or whatever else I could find for lunch, and something fried for supper, served with a Coke -- of course! Generally, I would buy two 20 oz. Vanilla Cokes in the morning and drink them throughout the day. Water was nonexistent in my diet unless it was of the carbonated variety. At my first weigh in, I was 180.6. For WW purposes, this weigh in didn't count because I wasn't a paying member, but it was enough for me to bring my cash in the next week!! After the complementary weigh in, I quit coke all together, replacing it with real water. The first week I lost 6 pounds. I generally lost a pound per week until October. Then I had surgery, so diet was the last thing on my mind. Six weeks after the surgery though, I'm still trucking through. To date, I've lost 28-30 pounds since my initial weigh in. My original goal weight was was 135, but after seeing what I look like at 152, I've changed my goal weight to 140 -- I don't want to be super skinny....just able to bend over and tie my shoes without losing my breath!

Since the holidays have started, my attention to detail in what I've been eating has been lax. For example, today's menu:

Breakfast: cup of coffee
Lunch: 2 fried chicken strips (like Raisin' Cane's, but a different chain) and 20 oz. Coke
Snack: Starbuck's carmel macchiato (small)
Supper: Linguine w/ Clam Sauce [YUM-O] and two slices of bread
Late Night: cup of coffee

Wake up weight: 150.2

As the title of the blog says: Starting over every day....that's how I've been able to handle the good and bad days since I began Weight Watchers. A good tomorrow should not be based on today's success and today's failures do not guarantee a bad tomorrow. Start over every day.
